Pupil of his Father and of Gaston Sarrault at the Conservatory of music in Bordeaux, he was at 15 years old admitted the first of the competition for the entry in Berliot's class at the superior national conservatory of Paris.

Later, he left for the class of organ with Alexandre Guilmant where he was awarded the first price of organ, fugue and improvisation.

           Then he obtained :

1903   Prix de la Société des compositeurs de musique

           Prix Toledo partagé avec Nadia Boulanger

1904   Prix Pleyel avec "Fantaisie Landaise" Prix Gounod

1928   Grand prix Léopold Bellan du concours de chansons

           avec "Pèlerin ô gué"

1929   1er prix du Concours International de San Francisco

           pour "Adon Olam"  (110 concurrents de tous pays)

1930   2ème prix des Amis de l'Orgue "Paysages Euskariens"

1931   Prix Charles Berthault de l'institut

1932   1er prix des amis de l'Orgue (à l'unanimité) pour "Symphonie sur Media Vita"

           Jury: Honegger, Florent Schmitt, etc ...

1934   Prix Durand partagé avec Guy Ropartz (Institut)

           1er prix du concours de "L'hymne au Vin" à Bordeaux

           L'oeuvre pour choeur et grand orchestre est donné à Bordeaux en

           présence du Président de la République

1938   Grand prix Lasserre de l'Institut à l'unanimité
